Tri NZ hosts successful OTU seminar in Auckland
19 July 2012
Last weekend an Oceania Triathlon Union (OTU) information based seminar was held for NTO officials.
Nine New Zealand officials and four Australian officials were invited to attend the seminar.
The schedule was jam packed with information focusing on the upcoming Barfoot & Thompson World Triathlon Grand Final. This included details on the event schedule for the two weeks leading into the event, elite, age group and participation courses, ITU rule updates and an overview of the self fund pathway as an ITU Official.
Paul Jeffrey, (Auckland Swim Director), took the team out on a boat so they could view the swim course first hand and to see the immense detail and planning that has gone into planning for the swim course for the event. Marguerite Christophers gave a presentation on paratriathlon classification and rules which gave officials a small insight into the complexity of including paratriathlon into our sport.
The NZ officials who attended the course were Brent Hussey, Cathi Davey, Claire Hannan, Gail Hussey, Georgina Workman, Jane Loughnan, Marguerite Christophers and Tony Sangster.
Thanks must go to Terry Sheldrake and Juliet Fahey for requesting and confirming the funding from OTU for the seminar, thanks also to Shanelle Barrett, Mel Johnson, Marguerite Christophers, Brendan Moore and Paul Jeffrey who contributed to the seminar.
